breaking-news-1Today marks a milestone in the short history of the Trust – we have have signed up our 1,000th member since our relaunch in 2010! Mr Philip Middleton of Aldershot is the holder of this special Membership No. 1,000.

There has been a fantastic response to our appeal for new members launched following the Club’s administration. In the space of just 3 weeks, we have 110 new members and the numbers are growing daily.

Ian Goodwright, Vice-Chairman of the Trust said “Analysis of our new members makes for interesting reading, with additions to all categories from Young Supporters to Lifetime memberships”. He continued, “When we look at the home town of these members, its surprising that only around 15% live in Aldershot, 35% live in the surrounding areas, such as Farnborough, Farnham, Fleet, Woking and Guildford, whilst the remaining 50% come from further afield – literally all over the country. Even more surprising is that we’ve received memberships from Australia, Canada and the USA!”

Although we’ve reached this 1,000th milestone, since 2010, quite a number of members have let their membership lapse. Consequently, we currently have an active membership of 630. We therefore appeal to those lapsed members to rejoin the Trust and boost our numbers. In this way we can present a strong case for Trust representation on any new Board of the Club once it comes out of administration.

Fans will be aware that we are simultaneously gauging opinion for a Community Share offer that would enable the Club to be 100% owned by the Trust. We’ve had a great response so far, but if you have not already completed our survey please do so by Tuesday 21st May. We have another meeting with the administrators on Wednesday and it would therefore be timely to give them an update on the survey. Please use this link to the survey:

Please ask fellow fans, friends, families and work colleagues to complete the survey as we want to know that this is something that has the support of not only Shots fans but the wider community too, before we can decide the way forward.

We’ve set up a dedicated Community Share area on our website where you will find further information on how the scheme works – www.theshotstrust.co.uk

As ever, we will keep you informed of developments.
